Objects Can Tell Stories - Artist Talk

A talk by Elaine Bolt about ceramics and mixed media

Elaine Bolt is a ceramic artist and maker from Lewes in the UK, working with clay and mixed media, creating works and compositions guided by a sense of narrative and steeped in the context of the local surroundings.

Elaine will give a talk about her work and how she makes use of locally dug clays and found objects in her work.

Elaine will talk about her work inspired by the Sussex landscape and about  a year-long project, working with basket maker Annemarie O’Sullivan, in which they experimented with local clays and found materials from a disused clay pit in Southern England, and willow grown on the site, exploring the materials in parallel.

Elaine is visiting Bornholm with a group of ceramicists as part of the Making Lewes Festival.

Making Lewes www.makinglewes.org is a community organization that promotes the exchange
of knowledge in the fields of making, architecture, design and sustainability. It runs an annual festival of craft, design and architecture that takes place each autumn in Lewes in Southern England, a town of 15,000 people, which like Bornholm, has a strong craft and making culture.
